What AskBritain is
AskBritain is an independent service that answers questions about UK government services using official public pages, and links to every source it uses. It is not run by, or affiliated with, HM Government, GOV.UK or any public body.
Information, not advice
AskBritain gives general information only. It is not legal, tax, immigration, medical or financial advice, and it does not know your personal circumstances. For advice about your situation, contact the relevant government department or a qualified adviser.
Check before you act
Answers are written by AI and may contain mistakes, miss details, or be out of date. Always check the linked official source before you make a decision, apply for anything or pay money. The official source is always the final word.
Politics
AskBritain does not give opinions on political parties, candidates or how to vote.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service for anything unlawful or to harm others.
- Do not use automated tools to send questions or copy content in bulk.
- Do not try to get around daily limits or disrupt the service.
- Do not upload material you do not have the right to share.
Daily limits
To keep the service free and available, AI answers are limited each day. When a limit is reached, you will still get links to relevant official pages.
Official content
Many answers draw on public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Links to official websites are provided for your convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.
We link to free independent advice services. They are not government, and we are not responsible for their advice.
Availability and liability
We provide AskBritain free of charge and as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or error free. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss caused by relying on an answer without checking the official source. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
Privacy
Our privacy notice explains how we handle information when you use the site.
